Wigan coach Brian Noble admitted he is "looking forward" to a Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-final trip to Leeds after watching his men run up a century of points against Whitehaven at the JJB Stadium.

The Warriors went some way towards exorcising the demons of last week's Millennium misery with a 106-8 victory over the Cumbrians - inspired by five-try teenager Sam Tomkins on debut - to set up the mouth-watering clash at Headingley.

"If you have aspirations of winning things you've got to go there and win," said Noble. "They'll be very, very wary of ourselves going there. It's the tie of the round and we're looking forward to it."

The star of the show against Whitehaven was undoubtedly Tomkins, with the half-back running in a whirlwind hat-trick inside the opening 12 minutes, and then adding two more after the break.

Trent Barrett, who looks certain to leave the club at the end of the season, notched a hat-trick of his own to go with braces for Iafeta Paleaaesina, Harrison Hansen and Mark Calderwood - but Tomkins romped home with the man-of-the-match plaudits.

"What a fantastic debut," Noble added. "To score five tries on your debut is very special.

"Let's not put him in the universe team yet - but we know we've got a good talent, he's a good player."
