Jowitt takes over at Dewsbury
Dewsbury have appointed former Bradford and Salford forward Warren Jowitt as caretaker coach following the sacking of Andy Kelly.
The National League One club parted company with Kelly and his assistant Ryan Sheridan in the wake of the club's 58-12 home defeat by League Two outfit Oldham in the fifth round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup on Sunday.
Jowitt will take temporary charge ahead of Sunday's game at Halifax but will not seek a permanent role because of work commitments.
Kelly, who was part-time, was in his fifth season with the Rams and his contract was due to run out at the end of the season.
The former Wakefield and Featherstone coach, who will be in charge of Ireland for the end-of-season World Cup in Australia, guided Dewsbury to the National League Two title in 2006 and steered them to the brink of the play-offs last year.
However, they have lost all six matches so far this year and Sunday's 10-try thrashing was the final straw for the club.
"We've had a run of defeats and, at the end of the day, someone has to be held accountable," said Kelly.
"The team were second from bottom of National League Two when I took over, so I know I've done a good job and I'd be interested in another challenge.
"It's pretty tough on Ryan Sheridan, who is a young coach trying to make his way in the game. His technical ability is fantastic and I just hope someone gives him an opportunity."
