An astonishing 37 swimming world records have been broken already this year, promising an exceptional pool competition in Beijing.

The men's 200m individual medley is shaping up to be particularly memorable. American superstar Michael Phelps will defend his title, one of six golds he won in Athens, and can expect another cat-and-mouse battle with his compatriot Ryan Lochte.
