Cycling - Victoria Pendleton
British cycling’s golden girl enhanced her reputation with two golds and a silver in the world championships in Manchester in March and looks a certainty to top the podium again in Beijing.
Pendleton looked peerless in defending her sprint title and can seemingly win with ease while varying her tactics in the cat and mouse battle on the steep slopes of the velodrome.
'Winning this one really confirms to me that I can to do it, that I do have the legs to be the best in the world,' Pendleton said. 'I doubt myself the whole time. That's the kind of person that I am, but I feel really good about my form.'
