Cecil plaudits for Tower
Henry Cecil's attempt to win the Coral-Eclipse for the first time in 30 years ended in a short head defeat for Phoenix Tower, but the trainer was delighted with the colt's Sandown performance.
Cecil, who suffered reverses in the Eclipse with the likes of Bosra Sham and Reference Point, said: "He just got headed on the line. I think he put his head back in front of the other horse again, but Mount Nelson just came back again.
"He's run a blinder and he's in everything now, but we haven't decided what to do."
John Gosden saw Pipedreamer finish third for the fourth consecutive time this season and is now considering a drop in class before raising his sights again.
"Jimmy Fortune said he wasn't quite happy on the ground, but he's still run a great race and we would have loved a bit of rain," said the trainer.
"We will try to knock off a Group Three like the Rose Of Lancaster at Haydock, but I would not hesitate to run him in the International at York if the ground was good."
Campanologist hit the front in the straight and stuck on well for fourth, pleasing Godolphin's trainer Saeed Bin Suroor.
He said: "He ran very well as he was the only three-year-old against older horses. We might give him a little break and bring him back in August. A mile and a quarter or a mile and a half will be no problem."
