McCarthy has done a great job - Moxey

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey insists he "can't see any reason" why boss Mick McCarthy will not be in charge at Molineux next season.

The former Republic of Ireland boss came under criticism from some sections of supporters this season and failure to reach the play-offs has led to question marks being raised over his future.

However, Moxey believes the club have made the mistake of showing a lack of patience in the past and remains confident McCarthy is on the verge of building something "quite special".

He said: "The club has historically got rid of managers too quickly and that word patience both inside the boardroom and on the terraces is really important because if we're going to try to build something, then it does take time.

"I think Mick has done a great job, I can't see any reason why he wouldn't be here. We're building something we think is quite special and I'm surprised at the sea change from `Super Mick' to something less complimentary!

"That's football, but sometimes we have to say `we know what we're doing, we've got a plan, we're sticking to it and hopefully the fans can stick with us', and, by and large, they have done."
