Bullen backs Owls to shine

Sheffield Wednesday's departing skipper Lee Bullen has tipped Brian Laws' side for a possible promotion challenge next season.

Bullen sat out the Owls' must-win success over Norwich on the final day due to a recurring hamstring injury, but said farewell to a full-house at Hillsborough after Championship survival had been assured.

Bullen, whose contract will not be renewed in the summer, told the club's official website: "I won't hide the fact that there were tears in the eyes, but what a way to go in front of those magnificent fans.

"I tell you what, I'm tipping that mob for the play-offs next season."

Bullen added: "I'll be leaving here with four years of fantastic memories. The fans have proved the potential of this football club.

"I would say to them now, get behind the lads next season, don't look back, look forward and help the team to the success it deserves."
