Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins is keen in-form striker Paul Hayes can pick up where he left off next season.

Hayes has fired five goals in the Iron's last three matches and was named in the Championship's team of the week for the third week running after the last-day draw with Colchester.

Adkins told the club's official website: "Paul Hayes is a fantastic football player, but it's hard to maintain it for a full season.

"But it's really good that he has finished well so he can start next season well."
