Redknapp threatens axe
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has warned his players they face being dropped for the FA Cup final if they fail to perform in Sunday's final Barclays Premier League game of the season.
Pompey's hopes of finishing fifth and qualifying for the UEFA Cup via the league ended on Saturday when they were beaten 2-0 at Middlesbrough.
It was a third straight defeat for Redknapp's side, who have been accused of having one eye on their Wembley showdown with Cardiff on Saturday week.
Redknapp is ready to wield the axe if he sees any signs of players slacking off against relegation-haunted Fulham this weekend.
He said on the club's official website: "We want to finish as high as we can. If we'd had a half-decent finish to the season, the worst we would have finished would have been sixth.
"It's important for us to get a result and put in a performance. Some players still need to show me they want to be a part of the side at Wembley."
