Backe targets cup run

Notts County manager Hans Backe set his sights on a strong FA Cup run after seeing his side beat Bradford 2-1 in the first round.

Goals immediately before and after the half-time interval from Karl Hawley and Johnnie Jackson saw off the Bantams, despite a late strike from substitute Michael Boulding.

He said: "It's a great time to score - 45 and 46 minutes - and it helped the way we were playing, but it is typical in football that 2-0 is the worst score to have as it puts you under pressure.

"After the second goal we looked nervous and edgy and we didn't pass it as well as we did in the first half. We put unnecessary pressure on ourselves and gave away too many set pieces.

"We could have killed the game off before they scored, but all in all I think we deserved the win.

"I think we can take the FA Cup seriously as well as the league. Hopefully we can get a home draw for the next round."
