Kasper Schmeichel has become the latest recruit to be lured to Notts County by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

The 22-year-old has again linked up with his former boss from Manchester City, and has become the club record signing at County.

Givemefootball’s Lawrie Madden caught up with Schmeichel after seeing County run out comfortable winners against Macclesfield.

Q: You have just seen your new team win 4-0. Any thoughts on the performance?

A: It was unbelievable today. They worked very hard and they kept going and even in the last few minutes scored and created chances. They have scored 9 goals in a week!

Q: How do you feel about leaving Manchester City, especially with the backing at the club?

A: To be honest, it was definitely time for me to move on. It has been time to move on for a long time now. I have now moved and I am delighted.

Q: Was it a hard decision to make?

A: When they got in touch and they told me about the project here and what plans they had for the future, I listened. Then when I met the people involved and saw their passion, and I knew that this was the move for me.

Q: You have become the most expensive signing at the club. Does that worry you?

A: I have no idea of the fee actually. That is a football issue and the clubs deal with these things. All I can say is that when I sign for a club I am committed to that club.

Q: What do you think Notts County can achieve?

A: This is a big club, they have great backers and do things the right way, so the club have good chances of success and I am sure there will be more players on their way to the club.

Q: Did Sven-Goran Eriksson have an influence or play a role in you coming to the club?

A: Sven was ever so helpful and told me the plans for the club. He gave me my chance at Manchester City and I enjoyed working with him, and I am looking forward to training and playing again. As I said, if I join a club I give it my all.
