Bath shock Mariners

Bath City pulled off one of the shocks of the FA Cup first round with a deserved 2-0 victory at Grimsby.

Chris Holland and Darren Edwards got the goals for the Blue Square South giant killers who were rarely troubled by their League Two opponents.

Grimsby's best chance came in the ninth minute when Barry Conlon met a cross from Jammal Shahin but headed over the bar.

Leading scorer Edwards burst through for Bath but Nick Colgan raced out to save at his feet.

But the visitors went ahead from a free-kick. Lewis Hogg delivered the perfect ball from the right and Holland rose to head beyond Colgan.

Bath increased their lead when Edwards seized on a loose ball in the box and saw his right-footed shot deflected out of Colgan's reach.
