Coventry boss has nothing but respect for Savage
Robbie Savage may be high up on the list of players fans love to hate, but Coventry boss Chris Coleman says his former Wales’ teammate remains quality a performer at the age of 35.
The Derby County midfielder has had to endure plenty of flak at countless grounds during his 15-year career, but Coleman knows Savage better than most having playing alongside him at international level for half a dozen years.
Coleman, whose City side travel to Pride Park to take on County tonight, said: “Opposition players and supporters have always given Robbie a lot of stick.
“But if you’re in the same dressing room as him you like him. I’ve known him for a long time and off the pitch he is a nice boy, great company.
“And he has made a good living out of football for sticking to what he does best. He gives it everything he’s got for 90 minutes, he gets about the pitch, he upsets people and he’s not bad on the ball either.”
