Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is relishing a tactical battle of wits with Fulham's experienced boss Roy Hodgson on Sunday.

Martinez is in his debut season with the club having arrived from Swansea in the summer and the Spanish boss paid tribute to his cultured counterpart.

Martinez said: "Roy Hodgson is an outstanding manager and Fulham had an exceptional season last year.

"If you look at his career, it is very impressive. He has worked in a number of different cultures and been in charge of some very good teams, clubs and countries.

"I admire many managers and Roy Hodgson is one of them."
