Scowcroft doubt for crucial clash

Crystal Palace will give James Scowcroft as long as possible to prove his fitness ahead of the last-day showdown with Burnley.

The experienced striker has been receiving treatment on a hamstring injury suffered three weeks ago, including spending time in an oxygen chamber, and is closing in on a return.

Palace will once again be without defender Matt Lawrence, who underwent a hernia operation last week.

Danny Butterfield is likely to deputise at right-back once again, with Lawrence hoping to be fit for the play-offs if Palace qualify - the Eagles know a victory will ensure they prolong their season by at least another two games.

Midfielder Neil Danns is still sidelined with a groin injury.
