Duo postpone surgery

Coventry have postponed routine operations for Elliott Ward and Michael Doyle to enable the duo to play in the Sky Blues' crucial clash at Charlton.

The players were scheduled to undergo surgery on respective ankle and hernia problems this week, thinking that the club's Championship status would already be assured.

However, Southampton's surprise draw at West Brom means City need a point at The Valley on the final day of the season to secure their survival.

"They have been carrying niggling injuries for a number of weeks now and we hadn't planned for Elliott or Michael to be with us because they were going off to get the treatment they need," said Coventry boss Chris Coleman.

"But as things turn out, we now we need them for one more game and they should be okay for that."
