Caldwell remaining positive

Gary Caldwell insists Celtic will "come out fighting" at Falkirk on Sunday as they seek to put European disappointment behind them and maintain their place at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Parkhead club's Europa League hopes are hanging by a thread after the goalless draw with Hamburg at the Nordbank Arena on Thursday night left them bottom of Group C with two points from four games.

Caldwell told Press Association Sport that while the Hoops have not given up on their European hopes, they will look to shrug off their frustrations in Germany by forging on with their bid to wrest the SPL title back from Old Firm rivals Rangers.

"We have left ourselves with a lot to do because of the bad start to the Europa League campaign but anything is possible in football," the Scotland defender said. "However, we will keep working at it and now we have to put it behind us for Falkirk.

"We understand that playing in Europe is tough but we have to recover and come out again fighting on Sunday. We've done that over the last few years and we know what it takes but Falkirk will be a tough game.

"We are usually massive favourites in SPL games and we are always under pressure and that's what we have to live with at Celtic. We will respect Falkirk but I'm sure we will be ready for them."
