Strike crisis for Clarets

Burnley boss Owen Coyle is facing a striking crisis ahead of the final game of the season at play-off hopefuls Crystal Palace.

On-loan Sunderland man Andrew Cole (leg), Ade Akinbiyi (chest pains) and Kyle Lafferty (appendicitis) all miss out through injury.

Young forward Jay Rodriguez is also unable to play as he ineligible following the end of his loan spell with Stirling Albion.

That has left Robbie Blake and 18-year-old Alex MacDonald as Coyle`s only attacking options.

Coyle said: "Andrew won't be available and Ade misses out because he has some pains in his chest, so we can't take any chances with that.

"With Kyle also out with appendicitis, we are down to the bare bones in the striking department, so we will adjust accordingly."
