Spicer leaves Turf Moor

Burnley manager Owen Coyle has decided to release out-of-contract midfielder John Spicer.

Goalkeeper Brian Jensen, who is also out of contract, has been offered a new deal but the club will listen to offers for fellow keeper Gabor Kiraly.

Coyle said: "John has left the club and we wish him all the very best. Unfortunately he was injured when I arrived and then picked up a suspension.

"He's been unable to force his way into the side but he goes with our best wishes because he has been a fantastic professional.

"As for Gabor Kiraly, although he is under contract, I am going to be bringing a goalkeeper in and if someone comes in for him, I will not be difficult to deal with."

Spicer joined Burnley from Bournemouth in summer 2005 on a three-year deal, but has mainly been restricted to appearances from the bench during his time at Turf Moor.
