Robins to face Palace

Bristol City made the ideal preparation for their Championship play-off semi-final with Crystal Palace by beating Preston 3-0.

Michael McIndoe supplied Lee Trundle to break the deadlock early on and the former Swansea player returned the favour eight minutes later setting up McIndoe to earn the Robins a two-goal advantage at half-time.

David Noble made it comfortable for the Robins shortly after the break and Trundle came close to bagging his second when he fired an effort against the woodwork as the hosts dominated.

The result caps off a great first season in the Championship for City after their promotion last year and they will look to a second-leg home tie as an advantage over the Eagles.

Preston, who had secured their Championship status last month, will be glad to see the back of a season which has seen them struggle at the wrong side of the table for the most part.
